The Alliance for Better Childcare Strategies (ABCs) is partnering with Virginia Quality to present an inaugural annual regional early education conference. Igniting Connections Early Education Symposium will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Inn at Virginia Tech, with sponsorship from Virginia Tech.
Igniting Connections will bring together 200 kindergarten, pre K, and Head Start teachers as well as educators from childcare centers and family home providers from across the New River Valley. Mary-Margaret Gardiner from Teachstone will be the keynote speaker and there will be breakout sessions on social emotional development, working with art, trauma-informed care, math and science, conscious discipline and more. At the end of the symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to tour Virginia Tech Children’s Development Center for Learning and Research and learn about best practices and ongoing research.
In addition to offering professional development, the symposium will provide an opportunity to build connections and communication between public school and childcare educators. To find out more, please contact Bethany Mott at firstname.lastname@example.org or 540-494-7175.
