RALLY Southwest Virginia is building community leadership capacity and reinforcing collaborative communities across the region. The Town of Narrows is the first community in the New River Valley to participate in this mini-grant program, facilitated by Opportunity SWVA. Through the mini-grant of $3,000, the RALLY program provides communities with resources to accomplish a meaningful community development project, while molding a cohesive team of energetic leaders.

Through the grant, Narrows has developed “Discover Narrows” large colorful posters of outdoor   recreation opportunities in town to be placed in downtown commercial buildings to make people aware of our natural assets.  The QR code on each poster connects to the New River Water Trail site for more information about businesses and tourism. An informational kiosk is also being built at the Duck Pond as an Eagle Scout project. The kiosk will include a map showing the location of recreation opportunities and hold brochures for additional information, and be blank on the back side to provide a place for student art. The grant is also supporting the development of informational packets for those considering locating a business in Narrows. For more information contact: tourism@gilescounty.org.
