Numerous localities across the New River Valley are using funds from the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to support key organizations and industries during the COVID-19 pandemic. These grants will reimburse eligible expenses related to the continuity of business during the COVID-19 pandemic, and all funds must be expended by December 31, 2020. A list of current grant opportunities by locality is below. Please read each program’s eligibility criteria closely to determine whether your business or organization is eligible:
City of Radford
- Power Incentive Grant – The City of Radford is offering grants of up to $1,000 to $5,000 for small businesses with up to 50 employees. Funds are awarded on a first come, first served, basis. Learn more here.

- Floyd County RISES Grant – Floyd County has allocated an additional $50,000 to their RISES grant program benefitting small businesses and nonprofit employers. Learn more here.
Montgomery County
- Small Business Recovery Grant – The Town of Blacksburg, Town of Christiansburg, and Montgomery County are offering grants of up to $27,500 to small businesses with award amounts based on the number of full-time equivalent employees. Deadline is September 30th. Learn more here.
- Nonprofit Recovery Grant – The Town of Blacksburg, Town of Christiansburg, and Montgomery County are offering grants of up to $25,000 to nonprofit organizations classified as 501c3, 501c6, or 501c4. Deadline is October 15th. Learn more here.
- Childcare Provider Recovery Grant – The Town of Blacksburg, Town of Christiansburg, and Montgomery County are offering grants to existing licensed family day homes, licensed child day centers, religiously exempt child day centers, licensed family day systems, certified preschools, and licensed after-school programs. Award amounts are calculated based on months in operation during COVID and licensed capacity. Learn more here.
Pulaski County
- Small Business Recovery Grant – Pulaski County is offering grants of up to $5,000 for small businesses operating in and serving Pulaski County with up to 25 employees. Learn more here.
- Nonprofit Recovery Grant – Pulaski County is offering grants of $1,000 to $5,000 made available through direct application on a first-come-first-served basis for registered non-profit 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(19) organizations located in Pulaski County and directly serving Pulaski County citizens. - Out of School Program Grants – Pulaski County is offering grants up to $7,500 to support the development and implementation of ‘out of school’ programs that caters to students’ needs in response to the impacts of physical distancing requirements on educational regulations due to COVID-19. - Childcare Center Emergency Recovery Grant – Pulaski County is offering grants of $5,000 to $10,000 ldcare Centers in Pulaski County who have all the required state licensures and certifications, are in good standing with the State Corporation Commission (SCC), are up to date on all Pulaski County taxes, charges and fees, and were in operation prior to February 15, 2020.
