Chris Mortensen Died at the age of 72!!

The legendary reporter of the NFL sports world US, Chir Mortensen was declared dead on the third of March.

Chirs Mortensen Biography

Chris Mortensen was born on November 7, 1951. He was a renowned American Journalist, notably known for providing reports for ESPN’s Sundays countdown, Sports Center, ESPN Radio, and ESPN.com.

Chris Mortensen reveals that he opted to be a journalist when he wasn’t qualified for football, basketball, or baseball. He wanted to be there as his career. He had a passion for sports. He started his career with the Daily Breeze newspaper.

In 1969 Chris Mortensen received 18 awards in journalism. 1978 he won the National Headliner Award for Investigative Reporting in all categories. In 1999 he made a film “The Unrealistic Story Of Professional Wrestling”

From 1983 to 1990 he worked at Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The NFL.

Chris Mortensen started working on ESPN in 1991. He reported for the global networks “Emmy Awards” ” NFL GAME say Countdown” and “The Outside The Lines”. Chris Mortensen also worked as an analyst for ESPN coverage of the NFL draft.

Chris Mortensen left the network of ESPN on 2023 following the 2023 NFL draft, the same year.

Chris Mortensen’s Death and Cause

On the 15th of Jan 2016, he announced his stage four stage cancer through an ESPN statement. And also that, he would be taking his retirement early due to his disease. Chris Mortensen survived eight after being diagnosed with stage four cancer.

At the age of 72, he was declared dead. The cause of death was not immediately declared. But most of them presumed it to be Cancer.

On his death, some celebrities even posted on Instagram commenting on their feed with his picture,

“Mort was widely respected as an industry pioneer and universally beloved as a supportive, hardworking teammate,” ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement. “He covered the NFL with extraordinary skill and passion and was at the top of his field for decades. Colleagues and fans will truly miss him, and our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones.”

“We lost a true legend,” Manning said in a social media post. “Mort was the best in the business and I cherished our friendship. I trusted him with my announcement to sign with the Broncos and the news of my retirement. I will miss him dearly and my thoughts and prayers are with Micki & his family. Rest in peace, Mort.”

ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro expressed his grief through X and described Mortensen as an “industry pioneer.” He further stated that Chris was “supportive” and “hard-working.”

“He covered the NFL with extraordinary skill and passion and was at the top of his field for decades. Colleagues and fans will truly miss him, and our hearts and thoughts are with his loved ones.”

Chris Mortensen was a popular face on the television network. The world was left heartbroken by the news.

Journalist Jeff Hullinger wrote in a Facebook post that Chris Mortensen was an “information guy.” Hullinger recalled Mortensen’s work over the years and wrote that his natural presence was praised by everyone.
