According to WYFF, Clifton police said the 12-year-old boy was walking near the bus station Wednesday morning when he was attacked by four dogs. The dog attack was reported to have been foiled by the boy’s neighbor, police said.

The boy was airlifted to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, police said. His mother, Amy Lowe, said her son is stable but it will take time for him to fully recover.

Lowe described her son’s condition as “very weak and out of it.” She added that he was still in a “holding pattern.” & her son sustained 60 dog bites in the attack.

She said her son will need to remain in a sedative for the next few days as he continues to struggle with pain and has additional surgeries scheduled.

Neighbor Recounts Dog Attack on South Carolina Boy

According to WYFF, Lowe’s neighbor, a woman named Natasha Mims who identified herself as the boy’s mother, said she knew he was in need of help because of the presence of four large dogs.

Mims said the boy was lying on his stomach with what appeared to be the back half of his leg eaten off. She said when she pulled up, the boy said he couldn’t move and asked her to look at him.

Lowe also said she was on her way to the elementary school to drop off her son, 6, when the dogs charged. She said Natasha called her on Facebook Messenger, yelling for Red to come home. “Natasha said, ‘Red, Red,’ and Mims said, ‘Come here,’ and I didn’t know what to do.”

As per GoFundMe page started by a family friend, Lowe has four children and the boy’s nickname is “Red.” The crowdfunding page has so far raised $485 of its 10,000 goal of $50,000.
